About mUZANGA FOUNDATION

United by Change
Empowered by Community

At the Muzanga Foundation, we are committed to making a difference through three key initiatives: Community Development, Safe Transportation and Wildlife Education. These initiatives comprise a variety of projects that are developed in close collaboration with the local communities we serve. We ensure that these projects are relevant to their specific context, addressing their unique needs and aspirations.

Through our collective efforts, we envision a future where (rural) communities in Eastern Zambia and Trinidad & Tobago thrive, embracing sustainable practices, empowered by their own knowledge and skills. Together, we can build a foundation for lasting change, creating a positive impact that ripples throughout the community and beyond.

Why Muzanga?

Muzanga, which means “friend” in the local Zambian language Chinyanja, holds a special meaning in our mission and values. It symbolises the essence of building meaningful connections and partnerships within communities. We believe that by embracing the spirit of friendship and collaboration, we can achieve remarkable outcomes together.

With open hearts and a shared vision, we strive to make a positive impact on the world around us.

Community Development

We believe that by investing in community-driven initiatives, we can empower people to improve their living conditions, build resilient economies, and create a better future for themselves and their children. We recognise that rural areas in Africa and Trinidad & Tobago face unique challenges. Therefore, our approach focuses on addressing these challenges in a comprehensive and integrated way, by working with communities to identify their priorities, assets, and capacities, and to design context-specific solutions.

Safe Transportation

We believe that safe transportation is a fundamental right. Everyone should have the opportunity to access essential services, education, work, and social networks, regardless of their location or economic status.

Wildlife Education

We believe that understanding, empathy, and respect towards wildlife, can reduce conflict, promote coexistence, and enhance conservation. Ultimately, our goal is to empower rural communities in Africa to live in harmony with wildlife, and to protect and preserve their natural heritage for future generations. Therefore, our approach focuses on providing practical and context-specific education and training to communities and children.
